Soma (the body) Curo (to care for)

Somacuro is the combination of the greek word soma, which means the body, and the latin word curo, which means to care for. I believe that much of what we experience in life is dependent on how our nervous systems are functioning and I work with clients on nervous system regulation.

I also believe that we all have an innate ability to heal, and my role as a therapist is simply to help guide clients. While the journey can take time, you should feel better as a result of seeing a therapist that is the right fit for you.

Life’s challenges do not go away with therapy, but your capacity to hold and process what you are experiencing can expand. I work on building resiliency with clients. Together we can explore new points of view and an increased capacity to sit with whatever you are experiencing.

Expanding capacity can mean anything from being able to notice feelings of anxiety, fear, shame, grief or worry with less attachment, to being able to take in or cultivate greater feelings of authenticity, self-worth, abundance, joy and love.

I also find that much freedom is found from working with our younger ‘parts’. By integrating them into our adult selves we find more peace, self love and a softening to the automatic reactions that often occur when we are triggered. Essentially, our surroundings and what other people do, impact us less.

I believe in trauma-informed care and believe that both somatic (body based) and cognitive (talk therapy) play a role in healing and creating a life you love.
